New Delhi, the capital of India is the fastest growing city of the country with its population of almost 14 million people.It is a modern city according to the Indian standard and it is one of the ancient cities of the country right from the Mahabharatha period that time it was known as Indraprastha and that was the first establishment of Delhi. It is divided into two main parts the Old Delhi and the New Delhi. Old Delhi was established in the 17th century by the fifth Mughal emperor Shahjehan He made India's biggest fort and the mosque there in red sand stone. The British established New Delhi as their capital in 1911 when they shifted their capital from Calcutta to Delhi. Viceroy house, parliament, India gate were constructed by them. Delhi has always attracted the invaders because of its geographical situation and massive table land they came here established here made beautiful buildings but they were also invaded by others hence as a result Delhi was invaded, demolished and again invaded, demolished almost for seven times.
Hence as a result we have many buildings of the historical importance.
