Yoga
claims two schools of teachings
(I) Treat the mind through the body
(II) Treat the body through the mind
Raja Yoga is the process which treat
the body through the mind by practicing of Antaranga Yoga like pratyahar(yoganidra,
Antarmauna), dharana(Chidakash, Hridayakash..etc.) Dhyana maditation)
etc.
Hath yoga is the pathway of Bahiranga yoga which treats the mind by treating
the body by different practices. Like- Asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha
and shat karma. Out of these shatkarma practices like-Dhauti, basti, neti
.
And Trataka have the major role to treat the mind through body.
As we know mind is the healer and mind is the slayer. The entire yogic
process is to control the mind and keep away from disease. For example,
while we practice trataka, we concentrate through eyes, this induces the
higher sensitivity of the pineal gland and directly via sympathetic nervous
system greater wakefulness the individual that influence the pineal gland
and hypothalamus also. By the control of hypothalamus the pineal gland
inhibits hyper secretion of adrenalin and Seratonin (which are the cause
of hypertension). And ultimately adequate amount of hormone secret into
the target cells. And brings the harmony in internal homoeostasis.
Hence in this way we can apply yoga to control
the mind from its various problems and frees the body from disease and
brings the body health and harmony.
